which events can you sail in?

  • Tier 3 regattas are open to 7-12 graders and allow teams with sailors from different schools (mixed teams). If you are in 7-8 grade or you sail at a school that does not have 4 or more sailors you will only be eligible to sail in the Tier 3 regattas.

  • Tier 2 regattas are limited to 9-12 graders and do not allow mixed teams. Tier 2 regattas are usually qualifiers for district championships.

  • Tier 1 regattas are open to 9-12 graders, do not allow mixed teams, and are invite-only. Tier 1 regattas are usually district and national championships. Teams must qualify for Tier 1 regattas by performing well at Tier 2 qualifying regattas.

  • For Tier 1 and 2 regattas, teams must have at least 4 sailors (for fleet racing) and 6 sailors (for team racing) from their High School.
