ADULT beginning keelboat
SCHEDULE: Mon/Thur or Tues/Fri 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM,
Last class of each session held Saturday 9 AM - Noon
DURATION: Two weeks
PREREQUISITES: Able to swim and tread water in life jacket
This beginning sailing class is taught on Ensign keelboats. The Ensign is 23 feet long and weighs about 3,000 pounds. Its full keel provides a secure stable ride, and the large cockpit has room for six to eight adults.
The class will cover all aspects of boat handling including sailing terminology and boat parts, maneuvers and points of sail, and rules of the road. No prior sailing experience is required. Students will receive the US Sailing textbook "Basic Keelboat" to help reinforce concepts taught in class.
Children ages 12 and older are welcome to register for the class along with their parent or guardian.
